Karlene Gibson, M.Ed is a serious illness Doula companion who offers compassionate and judgement free non-medical care to individuals and families who are facing serious and life limiting illnesses.
Karlene received an End of Life certificate from the University of Vermont and an M.Ed specializing in Adult Education from George Mason University. She has volunteered with two (2) hospice organizations: Capital Caring and Goodwin Living before deciding to become a Doula.
Karlene has experience as a Medical Coder and is a Returned Peace Corp Volunteer (RPCV), she served in Malawi, East Africa.
Karlene is approachable, empathetic and friendly, she has no agenda or judgement upon meeting clients and their families. She is a deep listener and will meet you wherever you are physically/emotionally. She is able to provide care with humility, respect along with cultural/religious and spiritual sensitivity. Karlene can see clients of all ages and from different ethnicities, cultures, backgrounds. She welcomes the LGBTQIA2+ community, individuals and families.
